Creative Writing II
DescriptionThis course is for students ages 11 to 13. Students will look in depth at the essentials of storytelling: plot, characterization, and setting. They will be expected to read a novel and to complete writing challenges. In addition to the weekly classes, the instructor will assist students on an individual basis with their own projects.
This is a one-semester course with a second semester option. Students who have completed the first semester have the option of receiving personal tutoring as they meet with the instructor to work one on one on personal projects such as a novel, short stories, etc. for the second semester.
Live Class: Mondays at 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time
Assignments: Writing assignments based on discussion and readings; individual projects
Duration: One semester: January 14 to May 18
Feedback and/or peer review will be provided on weekly assignments and projects. Grade recommendations are optional.
Students will need two books for this course, which are available from Royal Fireworks Press: A Fairly Creative Guide to Telling Tales, The Journal of Jenny September
