Conversational Spanish III

Description

In Conversational Spanish III you will expand your knowledge of Spanish cultural concepts, language content, and vocabulary, and you will engage in short, informal conversations with the teacher about everyday situations. Also, you will read and discuss the teacher’s selections of Spanish-speaking authors’ short stories, poems, and plays.

In addition, you will learn how Spanish-speaking people see the world and how they express their hopes and dreams. You will learn about the culture of the Spanish-speaking world, its history, its literature, its music, and its system of values and beliefs.

Class Details

Live Class: Yes

Frequency: Weekly, Tuesdays 10-11 a.m. ET

Duration: 15 weeks

Assignments: There will be short weekly assignments, practice exercises, recordings, and quizzes for every unit of study. Students will select a favorite Spanish writer’s work for a final project.

Student Expectations:
Students will submit weekly assignments, complete unit quizzes, and work with dialogues and class exercises.

Feedback/Assessment:
Feedback will be provided on assignments, quizzes, and classwork.    

Materials/Supplies:
Spanish/English dictionary, 3x5 cards for vocabulary. Students will also need to be able to access Centro Virtual Cervantes (cvc.cervantes.es) and Virtual Spanish Library (www.ciberoteca.com) on the internet.

Prerequisites:
Students should be comfortable using a dictionary and should have a background in Spanish appropriate for the course (approximately two years of formal study).
