Level 1 Complete - Island Level

Description

Children are ready to begin this level as soon as they have passed the stage of learning to read and can read to learn. Join author Michael Clay Thompson on the Island Level of the MCT language arts curriculum as he introduces his students to grammar, vocabulary, writing, and poetics. In Sentence Island, the writing book for this level, children will be taken to a new world where they meet the beloved Mud the Fish and a host of other creative characters. Children in this class will get a strong, solid foundation in the language arts that will be thorough and yet simple and comprehensible. Throughout this year-long course, mrT will provide plenty of practice, occasional online classes, and perhaps even a surprise or two! It is an experience children will remember for years to come.

During the second semester, mrT will be teaching the Mud Trilogy. If your child has already read this trilogy, he or she has the choice of rereading the books for greater depth or choosing a different trilogy. Children taking advantage of the literature component will be asked to make their choice by the end of the first semester. See the Mud Trilogy description for details on this optional part of the course.
